Government Grants & Funding Report: Pride of Our Footscray Community Bar

Prepared: April 2026 Venue: Pride of Our Footscray Community Bar, 86–88 Hopkins Street, Footscray 3011 (City of Maribyrnong LGA) Profile: Community-owned LGBTQ+ arts and entertainment venue. ~200 capacity, ~15 employees. Programming: drag, comedy, cabaret, burlesque, live music, film screenings, trivia, community fundraisers. Recently opened kitchen. Pursuing licence reclassification.

Executive Summary

This report identifies 50+ grant programs, subsidies, and funding mechanisms across all three levels of government plus philanthropic sources relevant to the venue. The research spans eight categories: Creative Victoria, Maribyrnong Council, Victorian state programs, federal arts funding, LGBTQ+-specific funding, small business and employment incentives, accessibility improvements, and food business transition.

The venue’s positioning as a community-owned LGBTQ+ arts venue in multicultural Footscray creates eligibility across an unusually broad funding portfolio. Key structural advantages include Maribyrnong Council’s explicit LGBTQIA+ preference criteria, Footscray’s CALD demographics aligning with diversity funding priorities, and community ownership aligning with NFP and social enterprise eligibility thresholds.

Total estimated accessible funding (if all applications succeed): $400,000–$600,000+ across multiple programs over the next 12–18 months. Realistically, a targeted application strategy focusing on the highest-probability programs below could yield $80,000–$200,000.
